What I Notarize

If it needs a signature witnessed and sealed, I can most likely help

  • Acknowledgments & jurats

Everyday notarizations for affidavits, sworn statements, and signed documents that need an official seal.

  • Powers of attorney & directives

Powers of attorney, health care proxies, and similar personal documents, handled patiently, especially for families and elders.

  • Vehicle & RMV forms

Title transfers and other vehicle paperwork, including the forms people discover need a seal at the last minute.

  • School, travel & family forms

Permission and consent forms, school paperwork, and travel documents for minors.

  • Business & personal documents

Contracts, letters, and other documents that need notarizing. Not sure yours qualifies? Just ask.

  • Coming soon

    Real estate documents

I'm finishing training for real estate signings, so I'm not taking those appointments yet.

I'm a notary public, not an attorney, and I can't give legal advice or prepare documents. Your attorney or the document's issuer can tell you which notarial act you need.

About Erica

Erica Cote, Notary Public

“A librarian's eye for detail, a notary's seal of trust.”

Erica brings a librarian's background to notary work: meticulous with documents, calm under deadline pressure, and happy to walk you through what happens at a signing. Especially if it's your first time, or the circumstances are stressful.

She's a commissioned, insured Massachusetts notary public based in Westborough, serving Worcester County and the nearby MetroWest towns. The witchy touches are real. So is the professionalism: valid ID checked, journal kept, every act done by the book.

Sigil & Seal is the notary arm of a bigger idea taking shape, Black Cats & Grimoires, with proofreading, cat sitting, and other everyday help planned. For now, the seal comes first.

FAQ

Before your appointment

What ID do I need?

Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. A driver's license or passport is typical. Every signer must be present with their own ID.

Should I sign the document before you arrive?

No, please leave it unsigned. I need to watch you sign (for a jurat, you'll also swear or affirm the document is true). Fill in the rest ahead of time if you can, but wait on the signature.

Where can we meet?

Your home, office, a hospital or care facility, or another convenient spot in the service area. If the signing is at a facility, check its visitor policy first.

What if I need witnesses too?

Some documents need witnesses as well as a notary. Mention it when you book. You may need to bring your own witnesses, and they should bring photo ID too.

Can you give me legal advice about my document?

No. Notaries can't give legal advice or draft documents. I can explain the notarial process and complete the certificate; for advice on the document itself, an attorney is the right call.

Do you handle real estate documents or closings?

Not yet. I'm finishing training for real estate signings, so I'm not booking them right now. General notarizations are available today.

How much does it cost?

A mobile visit within about 20 miles of Westborough is $85, including the first signature. Each additional signature is $10, and weekend or evening appointments add $35. Longer trips are quoted in advance, and your total is always confirmed before I travel.
